3 Reasons Why I Hate Working Remotely from Home

There are lots of people who say they enjoy working home remotely. I’m not one of them. Here are 3 reasons why I hate working remotely from home.

Back during the pandemic, my office switched to remote work.

At first, I was intrigued. It sounded pretty good.

There was no rushing to get to work. No dealing with any traffic. Heck, I didn’t even have to change out of my pajamas.

But I soon realized how much I hated it.

There was no option to return to work in office. So, there was nothing I could do but work from home using my own personal laptop and cell phone.

1) Blurred Work-Life-Home Separation

For myself, home and work are two separate spheres that shouldn’t be connected.

My home is the last place I want to be thinking about work. The stresses of the job should have zero place in my home.

When I am at home, I want peace, comfort, and relaxation.

The last thing I want is the usual workplace bullshit and stresses penetrating the walls of my home. That bullshit and stress belongs in the office and should remain there!

I don’t want my job and home combined or blurred together in any way.

Home is a place for peace, not stress!

2) Employers Constantly Checking On You

I’ll bet the last place you want to see your supervisors, managers, or boss, is inside your home!

Well, that is what you get with remote work from home!

Your boss is right there inside your home, often checking up on you to see what you are doing.

I remember getting called on my phone from the boss; “Hi, what did you do today?”

Well, I did this, that, and this. “Hmmm. I see.” The boss was thinking about whether or not I was really doing work (which I was – I did everything that was assigned to me by the supervisor).

Who the f*ck wants to deal with that in your own home?

Then there were the occasional conference call meetings. I didn’t have a working webcam on my personal laptop that I was using. So, although logged in, my screen was black.

I could speak easily enough via cell phone, but the boss kept demanding I put my computer camera on. I explained this was not an office laptop, I don’t have a working camera on my laptop.

Basically, the boss was trying to see if I was indeed at home (which I was).

Again, who the hell wants to deal with that crap when you’re in the comforts of your home?

3) Lack of Human Connection

While I am not exactly a big social animal… I will say that working remotely really does deprive you a bit of your humanity.

There is a loss of human connection that cannot be made up for over computer screens or apps.

I did miss seeing and connecting with my coworkers and sharing the few laughs throughout the day.

Working remotely made the job itself less enjoyable.

Conclusion

And there are 3 reasons why I hate working remotely from home.

Some people love it. I couldn’t stand it and never want to go back to it!

Had I been financially independent, I would have told my boss to go jump in a ditch and left my job right then and there!

Never was the importance of having F-you money so instilled in me as those days of remote work.

I am saving and investing every month for financial freedom.

I’ve built a six-figure portfolio that generates a yearly average of over $1,100 per month in dividend income!

That is passive income that I earn while I sleep!
