Growing Dividends and Growing Portfolio

As the final month of the 3rd quarter comes to an end, I am exciting by two positive trends: growing dividends and a growing portfolio. While my recent re-balancing of my portfolio resulted in a net loss of dividend income, by the end of the year new purchases and dividend increases will have recovered the net loss. That is the great thing about dividend growth investing. The snowball keeps on growing! And one of the best features of DGI is that I get paid for technically doing nothing. That is the beauty if passive income, you earn money while you sleep.

My dividend income for the year is set to become a record breaker, higher than all the prior years. In 2015, when I first started actively investing, my dividend income was $4,860 for the entire year. This year, I am projecting to surpass $9,400 in dividends gained for the entirety of 2019. During this year, it took only 8 months to achieve the income it took all of 2015 to gain. Imagine 5 years from now, what all of this will look like. I don’t like to rush time, it goes fast enough as it is, but it is nice to think of the future.

Another facet to building my dividend dynasty is the value of the portfolio that produces my dividend income. My portfolio has seen exceptionally strong growth this year, even with the sales from the summer re-balance. It has dawned on me that as of this post, my portfolio is on the cusp of crossing $200,000 in value. At the beginning of this year, I imagined it would take (at most) two years for me to break the $200K mark. But, looks like it is very possible to cross that milestone within this year!

So, things are going well as I move along what will be a record break month in dividend income. The plan going forward is growth. With the re-balancing all but complete, I plan to solely focus on growing my dividend income. From here on and the next year, the name of the game is growth. If all goes according to plan, next year I will cross the $10K mark in forward dividend income! With growing dividends and a growing portfolio, I can say things are going well. Looking forward to the future!
