The first month of 2020 is over and it’s time for me to post my January 2020 dividend income. To be honest, I am glad this month is over. We had a change in management at work combined with an increased workload that was just super stressful. Thankfully, procedures and protocols are now starting to fall into place (as well as some new hiring) which should make things a bit easier (in theory). However, things were brighter on the financial side of things. I am opening the new year with a record amount of dividend income for a starting month. This month I received $595.80 in dividend income from eight (8) companies!
- Medical Properties Trust (MPW) – $234.00
- Starwood Property Trust (STWD) – $171.36
- Realty Income Corp (O) – $42.77
- GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – $59.98
- Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) – $16.05
- Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH) – $21.65
- Leggett and Platt Inc. (LEG) – $32.80
- PepsiCo (PEP) – $17.19
January 2020 Dividend Income Total: $595.80
And with that, we start the new decade with a record! This month’s results show a 29.7% year over year increase from January 2019. Love those double digit YOY growth rates! This month’s dividend income was also higher thanks to PEP paying on a January as opposed to their usual quarter ending month payouts. To top off a great financial month, there are the dividend increases!
First on the list, O increased their dividend to $0.2325 per share. This raised my forward annual dividend from $513.24 to $524.52 for a $11.28 increase from O. Next, ED increased their dividend to $0.765 per share. Thus, raising my forward annual dividend from $171.68 to $177.48 for a $5.80 increase from ED! Lastly, CVX increased their dividend to $1.29 per share. As a result, my forward annual dividend increased from $80.92 to $87.72 for a $6.80 increase from CVX. It’s nice to see an increase from a company I bought just earlier this month.
Altogether, January’s dividend increases totaled $23.88 added to my yearly dividend income. Overall, despite being stressed at work, this was actually a pretty good month financially. My recent stock purchases from early January pushed me across the $10k per year milestone. Therefore, I am officially in 5-digit dividend income territory! My portfolio now stands to generate $10,035 in dividend income over the next 12 months! So, how was your first month of the decade? Let me know in the comments below!
