The first month of the new year is gone and it is time to post my January 2022 dividend income (plus a health update)! I am glad January is over. In the last week of December, I ended up in the hospital twice. It was weird. All of a sudden, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I felt dizzy, weak, nauseas, cold, had heart palpitations, was trembling, and felt like I was going to pass out. This went on in waves for a week and would last as long as an hour. I didn’t know what was happening to me. The general consensus amongst doctors is that I was experiencing a series of panic attacks.
I was given medication to stop the attacks, but the initial side effects from those medications were also horrible. To complicate things further, a week before this started, I began to get what I thought were hives all over my body. I even went to a dermatologist to see what these hives were or if it was some kind of skin rash. All the results from my blood tests to a biopsy of my skin came back negative. So, I was physically fine.
Then the doctor suggested I check my apartment for insects that could be biting me. And that is when I found them… bed bugs!
So, I found the explanation for the hives. They were actually bed bug bites. I was both horrified and relieved at the same time. If anyone has had bed bugs, you probably know it can be a real hassle to get rid of them. For me, I had to wash and dry all my cloths and bed sheets in hot water, keep them in plastic bags, empty my closets, move the furniture away from the walls, and keep them like that until the 2 treatments 9 days apart were finished.
At the same time this was happening, I was having some renovations done to my apartment and had to do some preparation for that. I got a new shower, tub, walls, and accessories installed in my bathroom. It actually looks quite nice now that it is complete. It was finished in between bed bug treatments (which appears to have been successful as I have not had any new bites). Here is a before photo and some after photos of my new shower:
So, now my heath has come back, the bed bugs are (hopefully) gone, and my bathroom is renovated. Let’s talk about financials! Earlier this month, I posted my 2021 goal results and made some new stock purchases. The rest was just collecting dividends. Thus, without further ado, for January 2022, I received $779.04 in dividend income from twelve (12) companies!
- MPW – $252.00
- STWD – $171.36
- O – $46.34
- GSK – $62.02
- ITW – $18.30
- CAH – $22.09
- LEG – $42.42
- EMN – $32.68
- GPC – $ 28.53
- PPL – $ 51.88
- CSCO – $17.02
- PEP – $34.40
January 2022 Dividend Income Total: $779.04
Nice start to a new year of dividends! This January’s dividend income shows an 8.2% year over year increase from January 2021. At least with everything happening around me, I can say the dividends keep reliably rolling in. Better yet, the snowball keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Now let’s look at January’s dividend increases:
-
-
- VTRS increased dividend to $0.12 per share, resulting in a $0.84 increase.
- ED increased dividend to $0.79 per share, resulting in a $5.16 increase.
- INTC increased dividend to $0.365 per share, resulting in a $2.80 increase.
- WFC increased dividend to $0.25 per share, resulting in a $19.80 increase.
- D increased dividend to $0.6675 per share, resulting in a $8.28 increase.
- CVX increased dividend to $1.42 per share, resulting in a $5.44 increase.
All in all, dividend increases totaled $42.32!
There were some nice dividend increases this past month. WFC raised their dividend by 25% and D began to raise it’s dividend again after cutting it two years ago. It is great to see dividend increases make a comeback!
Thus concludes my January 2022 Dividend income plus health update! Honestly, this has been a tough winter so far. I am hoping for a calmer, quieter, and more normalized February. As of this post, my portfolio is set to generate $12,432 in dividend income over the next 12 months. There is the power of dividend growth investing! I will continue work towards my goals and build my dividend dynasty!
So, how was your month? Did you break any records? Also, how were your dividend increases? In addition, have you ever had bed bugs before? Let me know in the comments below!
