Half the summer is over and it is once again time to post my dividend income for July 2019. July was an exciting month. The first week was my birthday, second week was my 2-year blogiversary, and third week, I crossed the $300K mark in net worth. Then I made a new stock purchase to close out the month. I am currently in the process of re-balancing my portfolio and this new buy was an important step. I must say, this was one of the more exciting “off” months I have had. For July 2019, I received $464.19 in dividend income from six (6) companies!
- Medical Properties Trust (MPW) – $225.00
- Starwood Property Trust (STWD) – $103.20
- Realty Income Corp (O) – $42.58
- GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – $56.76
- Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) – $15.00
- Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH) – $21.65
July 2019 Dividend Income Total: $464.19
This month’s dividend income shows a 7.9% year over year growth when compared to July 2018. Like all quarter starting months, July is my “off” month. On an “off” month I received the lowest amount of dividend income from the least amount of companies. Nonetheless, even an “off” month can be a great month. In addition, I made a new stock purchase this week. I bought 55 shares of (D) Dominion Energy at $74.64 per share. And with that D becomes the 25th stock in my portfolio! This purchase added $201.85 to my forward dividend income.
Next, there are the dividend increases, decreases, and declared dividends. First was WFC which increased its dividend to $0.51 per share. This raised my yearly forward dividend income from $111.60 to $126.48 for a $14.88 increase from WFC! What happened next was two pronged. VFC decreased its dividend to $0.43 per share. This lowered my annual forward dividend income from 136.68 to $115.24 for a $21.44 decrease from VFC. However, its spinoff, KTB declared a dividend of $.056 per share. This adds $20.16 to my forward dividend income.
Overall, I received a net increase of $35.04 in forward dividend gains. All in all, I can say that July 2019 was a pretty busy and exciting month. My portfolio now stands to generate $9,148 in dividend income over the next 12 months. As a result of my new purchase, I am once again above the $9000 mark in forward annual dividend income. Therefore, I guess I can say it again: It’s over 9000!!!! So, how did the rest of you guys do? What do you think of my new purchase? Let me know in the comments below.
