The year 2018 was a record year for me. For 2018, I collected $8,853.52 in dividend income. Divide that number quarterly and that is $2,213.38 per quarter. Monthly, that averages out to $737.79 per month. Overall, 2018 was a very good year. When I compare year over year (2017-2018) I have had a 11.9% increase in collected dividend income. Sweet double digits. I have never tacked my dividend progress before until I started this website. Now that I am finally seeing the numbers, I really have a good grasp of my progress and more or less what to expect going forward.
It has truly been enlightening to see the progress in real numbers throughout the year. The year 2018 marked the first full year I have been able to track those numbers. Forward annual dividend income is another number I was able to look at. At the start of January 2018 my projected forward annual dividend income was $8,274 for the year. At the start of January 2019 my projected forward annual dividend income was $9,315 for the year! When calculated year over year, that is a 12.6% increase in forward yearly dividend income! Again, sweet double digits!
Oh… and those dividend increases! I have never tracked my dividend increases each month until I started My Dividend Dynasty. This was an eye-opener! This is proof that in real time that the snowball can grow on its own without any action on my behalf. All those dividend increases, from the smallest to the largest, over the year have added up to a big number! For the year 2018, the amount of dividend increases alone totaled up to $427.64! That is a serious chunk of change and I did absolutely nothing (no physical labor) to earn it! That is good passive income.
I am sure looking forward to see what 2019 holds. I have set some financial goals for the year and have make my first two purchases. Things have certain gotten off to a good start. How about the rest of you? Make any recent stock purchase? How were your numbers for last year? Let me know in the comments below!
