Time for my May 2022 dividend income plus my recent buys/sells!
This was a pretty busy month at work. Mainly because many of my coworkers took vacations this month or had to take sick leave for covid, that there was a large increase in workload at my job.
The funny part of the month was finding a giant roach in our kitchen at work. I captured it and it caused quite a sensation. Many of my co-workers took pictures of it.
Naturally, being a bit of a prankster, I keep the captured roach sealed in a plastic cup and left it on the kitchen table. Then I just waited for someone to inevitably go into the kitchen. A couple of us were in on it.
Finally, while sitting at my desk I heard a really loud “ewwwwww” scream from one of my colleagues. She just put down her food and looked inside the sealed cup. It was quite funny for those of us in the know, lol.
Other then that, I closed the last week of the month with a recent buy and sell. A small tweak to my portfolio that I believe will be for the better in the long term.
In addition, I made a new page “Getting Started” for those interested in beginning their journey into dividend growth investing and personal finance. I listed some resources to help people get a basic start to dividends and personal finance. These are resources that helped me get started many years ago.
But without further ado, for May 2022, I received $646.21 in dividend income from nine (9) companies.
- T – $167.89
- OHI – $167.50
- PG – $30.14
- O – $46.44
- GIS – $52.02
- ABBV – $46.53
- VZ – $79.36
- GD – $17.64
- NNN – $38.69
May 2022 Dividend Income Total: $646.21
Not my best month. In fact, this month shows a -6.4% year over year decrease from last May 2021. How did that happen?
Well, it was the AT&T dividend cut. Something like that just can’t be helped and I will have to bite the bullet on this one.
In addition, this is my “off” month. An “off” month is when I get paid the lowest amount of dividends from the fewest number of companies.
Normally, dividend increases make this month better. But not this time. Here are May’s dividend increases (and one decrease).
-
- PEP increased dividend to $1.15 per share, resulting in a $9.60 increase.
- CAH increased dividend to $0.4957 per share, resulting in a $0.89 increase.
- LEG increased dividend to $0.44 per share, resulting in a $12.56 increase.
- GSK decreased dividend to $0.3496 per share, resulting in a $130.81 decrease.
- LYB increased dividend to $1.19 per share, resulting in a $9.60 increase.
All in all, dividend increases for May 2022 totaled: $32.65
Unfortunately, when you factor in the dividend decrease from GSK, I end up with a negative $98.16 net loss. Well, that sucks.
But there is great news. In addition to the LYB dividend raise, they announced a special dividend of $5.20 per share! With 40 shares of LYB, my special dividend amounts to $208 in cash!
So, sweet! That more than makes up for the GSK cut. But now, it is on to my recent stock transactions.
First, I sold 50 shares of GSK. Thus, I lost an additional $69.92 in dividends from GSK. Now I have 70 GSK shares left.
Next, I used the proceeds from the GSK sale and bought 33 shares of GILD. Therefore, adding $96.30 in dividends from GILD. I now own a total of 78 shares of GILD.
When factored together, this small tweak to my portfolio added a net gain of $26.24 in dividend income.
Overall, this was a very lackluster month on the financial side of things. And yet, there were a few bright spots as well. On to stronger months!
Thus, we conclude my May 2022 dividend income plus recent buys/sells!
As of this post, my portfolio is set to generate $12,595 in dividend income over the next 12 months. This June should be a record month in dividends. Also, I am getting ready for some new stock purchases by the end of the month.
This will be exciting! I will continue work towards my goals and build my dividend dynasty!
