I have been actively investing in dividend stocks for the past four years now. Since 2015, I have managed to build up a portfolio worth over $154,000 that will generate $9,084 in forward dividends over the next 12 months. One thing I have come to realize is that: time plus investing then repeating the process really does build wealth. Having started My Dividend Dynasty has helped me really grasp this concept. Since I have been actively posting, updating, and tracking my monthly results (something I never did before), I have had a perfect visual of the snowball effect in action. It has been enlightening.
In the year 2015, I earned $4,860 in dividend income. That is for the whole year of 2015. Broken down, that averages out to $405 per month or $1,620 per quarter. Fast forward three years later. In August of 2018, my dividend income officially surpassed an entire year of what my dividend income was back in 2015. In other words, my entire dividend income in 2015 has been achieved and surpassed in just 8 months’ time. Literally, in two-thirds of a full year. That is pretty cool and it gets better.
In the year 2016, I earned $5,667 in dividend income. That is for the whole year of 2016. Broken down, that averages out to $472.25 per month or $1,889 per quarter. On the first day of September, I received a dividend from PFE and with that my dividend income officially surpassed an entire year of what I earned in dividends back in 2016! Back to back years broken in eight to nine months. This is all very exciting to see this happening. This snowball in live action. This has shaped up to be a year of record breakers.
The snowball keeps betting bigger and bigger year by year. Prior to 2015, my investment portfolio only generated around $600 in dividends per year. Those familiar with my story know that my journey into dividend growth investing began in the worse possible way. But I am trying to make the best out of what I have left. Next year, I am hoping to break the $10K mark in forward dividend income. That would average out to around $833 per month or $2,500 per quarter. It is exciting just thinking about this! I am sure looking forward to the future! How about you guys? Have you surpassed your dividend incomes from previous years? Let me know in the comments below!
