My first stock purchases of the new year! The last time I made a purchase was back in October of 2018. Luckily, the most recent market dip beginning in mid-December left many stocks trading at a nice discount. This presented great buying opportunities. As a result, like during the market correction of early 2018, I decide to take advantage and divide my cash stockpile (around $4000) in half for two stock purchases. As you probably noticed, all of my buys where from companies in the healthcare sector this time. Last week, I made two purchases: Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Cardinal Health (CAH).
Last week, I bought 16 shares of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) at $127.01 per share. With that, JNJ is the 21st stock in my portfolio, the Dividend Empire. This purchase added $57.60 to my forward annual dividend income. Another dividend giant added to my portfolio. My second and last purchase was 45 shares of Cardinal Health (CAH) at $44.47 per share. CAH is now the 22nd stock in my portfolio. This purchase added $85.72 to my forward annual dividend income. I am quite happy with my purchases.
Altogether, these two purchases added $143.32 to my yearly forward dividend income! I realized something else as well. With my purchase of JNJ, I now own all five of the Dividend Diplomats Top 5 Foundation Dividend Stocks for a Portfolio! Isn’t that cool? Thank you, Lanny and Bert, for that great post! As it stands now, my portfolio is set to generate $9,458 in dividend income over the next 12 months. This is a great start to the new year as I continue to build my Dividend Dynasty!
I made a significant step forward towards the goals I set for 2019. I am also getting closer to two milestones; breaking the $1K mark for a month and passing $10K in forward annual dividend income! I probably won’t be making any new purchases till April when my cash stockpile is full. However, I foresee organic growth from companies increasing their dividends fueling my dividend growth till then. So, what do you think of my purchases? Do you own any of these companies? What stocks have you bought recently? Let me know in the comments below!
