Recent Buys – LEG, GILD, and NNN

July is heating up and it is time to post about my recent buys – LEG, GILD, and NNN. I forgot to mention in my last post about my 4 Year Blogiversary, that it was my birthday the first week of July. I know, how could you forget your birthday?! Truth is, birthdays have become a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I am getting closer to financial independence and freedom. On the other hand, I am also getting closer to the grim reaper. Can’t I pause time for a bit and still have the snowball grow? I guess not. But anyway, on to my new stock purchases.

Last week, I purchased 19 shares of Leggett & Platt (LEG). Thus, I added $31.92 in dividend income. All in all, I now own 101 shares of LEG that will generate a yearly forward dividend income of $169.68. Next, I purchased 45 shares of Gilead Sciences (GILD). As a result, GILD became the 45th stock in my portfolio. This purchase added $127.80 in dividend income.

Finally, my last purchase was 42 shares of National Retail Properties (NNN). Thus, NNN became the 46th stock in my portfolio. This purchase added $87.36 in dividend income. It has actually been quite a while since I added a new REIT to my portfolio. Along with GILD, this is the first time since January that I added any new companies to my portfolio.

This concludes my Recent Buys – LEG, GILD, and NNN. All in all, these purchases added $247.08 in dividend income to my portfolio. Now I am back to reloading for my next stock purchases which probably won’t be until late September or early October. Depending on what the market is doing, I may just focus on beefing up my current stocks next time around, but we will see what opportunities present themselves.

In terms of my 2021 goals, these recent purchases place me at achieving the bronze cup and the bronze medal with the 2nd half of the year still to go. I am going for the gold! My portfolio now stands to generate $11,696 in dividend income over the next 12 months. I am getting closer to the $12K dividend milestone which I am hoping to achieve by the end of the year. Things are getting exciting!
