Another month has passed and it is time to report my dividend income for September 2019. This past month achieved record breaking dividend income. Unfortunately, this month ended very sadly for me. In the last week of September, my cat had passed away. She was diagnosed with heart disease over two years ago. My cat almost died back then, but luckily, I was able to treat her with medication and feed her food through a syringe. She recovered after that. Sadly, the disease is progressive and she was on and off the past 3 months. The past month she declined very quickly (even with medication and syringe feeding), and although she made a nice rebound in the last week, it was not to be…
So, I guess its good news, bad news, and sad news. A great financial month and a terrible emotional month. I guess that is the nature of life, you don’t know that hand that will be dealt to you each day, each month, each year. There are some things you can’t control, but have no choice but to keep moving forward. This month I received $1,148.74 in dividend income from fifteen (15) companies!
- Pfizer (PFE) – $61.92
- Southern Company (SO) – $125.86
- International Business Machine (IBM) – $156.32
- Target Corporation (TGT) – $46.20
- VF Corporation (VFC) – $28.81

September 2019 Dividend Income Total: $1,148.74
That is a record number of dividends from a record amount of companies. The month of September 2019 shows a 20.8% year over year growth when compared to September 2018. Very nice double-digit growth! That is not all that is double-digit. I took a look back at September of 2017 and saw that back then I was pay by only 7 companies. Two years later, that number has more then doubled to 15 companies sending me dividend income. All of my numbers have growth very nicely.
Then there are the dividend increases. First, MCD increased its dividend to $1.25 per share. This raised my forward annual dividend from $331.13 to $356.82 for a $25.69 increase from MCD. Next, O increased its dividend to $0.2270 per share. This raised my forward yearly dividend from $510.98 to $512.11 for a $1.13 increase from O. Altogether, September’s dividend increases added $26.82 to my forward annual dividend income.
And so, that was September 2019. The good and the bad. There is not much more I can really say. My portfolio now stands to generate $9,497 in dividend income over the next 12 months. I am also ready to make some new stock purchases now that my cash reserves are fully reloaded. We will see what happens this month. So, how did the rest of you do? Any record-breakers? Let me know in the comments below.
